On April 10, 2026, at the Arts and Science Conference Hall, University of the Philippines Cebu, a public forum on “Solving the Twin Crises of Waste and Plastic Pollution” was conducted in partnership with various organizations and stakeholders. The forum addressed the systemic failures of waste management in the Philippines, highlighting the social and environmental consequences of plastic pollution and landfill mismanagement. Speakers from government, legal, and environmental sectors provided insights on policy gaps, corporate accountability, and sustainable solutions. The discussion emphasized the need for immediate and collective action to protect vulnerable communities affected by environmental hazards. This initiative supports SDG 12 by advocating sustainable consumption, SDG 13 by addressing climate-related issues, and SDG 11 by promoting safer and more resilient communities.
