Sports Studies

This is a two-year program for those interested in being employed as recreation activity leaders and assistants, coaching staff of sports teams or dance groups in settings such as barangay centers, sports, clubs, resorts, school sports and recreation clubs, and fitness centers.

Vision

To be a transformative Sports and Physical Education program that advances human movement, wellness, sports science, and inclusive development in the Visayas, the nation, and the global society through excellence in instruction, application of research, and public service.

Mission

Aligned with the mission of UP Cebu and the ideals of the University of the Philippines, the program commits to:

    1. Provide quality and inclusive physical education, sports science, fitness, and human movement grounded in honor, integrity, and excellence;
    2. Develop competent, disciplined, ethical, and socially responsive graduates equipped with scientific knowledge and practical skills in sports, wellness, and physical activities;
    3. Promote lifelong fitness, wellness, sportsmanship, and holistic human development among the UP community through inclusive, learner-centered, and evidence-based physical education programs and activities.

Political Science

1. Apply inclusive, learner-centered, and evidence-based pedagogical approaches in Physical Education.

2. Demonstrate professional competence in sports, fitness, dance, recreation, and adapted physical activity.

3. Plan, organize, manage, and evaluate movement-based programs across educational and community settings.

4. Demonstrate effective communication, collaboration, leadership, and ethical practice with diverse stakeholders.

5. Utilize critical thinking, research, creativity, innovation, and cultural responsiveness in addressing contemporary issues in Physical Education.
