College of
The College of Social Sciences traces its roots to the 2010 merger of UP Cebu’s Social Sciences and Professional Education Divisions, following the university’s autonomy from the University of the Philippines Visayas. Together, the two divisions formed the Social Sciences Cluster, bringing BA Political Science and BA Psychology alongside the Master of Education, High School, and Physical Education programs. The merger recognized education’s place within the social sciences and sought to make more effective use of the unit’s resources. Before this reorganization, the two divisions constituted UP Cebu’s academic structure together with Business Management, Arts and Humanities, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
The College is currently led by Prof. Regletto Imbong, PhD, with coordinators overseeing its Political Science, Psychology, Physical Education, Master in Public Affairs, and Master of Education programs, and a principal heading the High School.
Our Vision
In keeping with the vision of UP Cebu to be the lead university in pioneering research, creative design, ICT- driven innovation, responsible governance and community service, the College of Social Sciences envisions itself to: Carry out its mandate of teaching, research and public service with ICT for development as its thrust. The goal is to foster development not only with the use of ICT as a tool but more so, as a field of study that intersects the Social Sciences and Education, that would contribute to uplift the human condition.
Our Mission
To produce graduates who are scientific, innovative and ICT- proficient, who demonstrate academic excellence and integrity, and who would use their knowledge and skills to be ethical and socially responsible Filipinos and global citizens.
